2009 Annual Meeting CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
On August 1–5, 2009, the American Accounting Association (AAA) will hold its Annual Meeting in New York City. The Program Advisory Committee for the 2009 Annual Meeting of the AAA invites academic and practitioner members from around the globe to submit proposals for: papers, panels, forum presentations, Effective Learning Strategies sessions, CPE Sessions and special concurrent sessions, as well as to volunteer to serve as reviewers, moderators and discussants for meeting sessions. The submission deadline is midnight EST January 12, 2009.
2009 Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Papers are now being accepted for the 2009 AAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting. The Meeting will be held at the Ocean Plaza Resort and Spa in Long Branch, New Jersey, from April 23-25, 2009. Papers, panels, and CPE proposals may encompass any topical area of accounting and may be theoretical or practice-oriented. The program will be structured around the best submissions. The submissions deadline is January 15, 2009.

Notable Contributions to Accounting Literature Award CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
The Screening Committee for the Joint AICPA/AAA 2009 Notable Contributions to Accounting Literature Award invites nominations of outstanding articles, books, monographs, AICPA-sponsored research studies or accounting literature appearing in other types of publications. Doctoral Scholars Program in Accounting CREATED BY THE CPA PROFESSION
In response to the growing shortage of academically qualified university accounting faculty members, especially those with recent experience in the practice of auditing and tax, concerned practitioners, leaders from the 80 largest CPA firms and other organizations initiated the Accounting Doctoral Scholars (ADS) program. The program is administered by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Foundation under the oversight of an Advisory Council. The initiating sponsors have pledged financial support of $15 million for the program.
COSO Releases Exposure Draft MONITORING OF INTERNAL CONTROL
The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) has released an exposure draft document titled, Guidance on Monitoring Internal Control Systems, designed to help organizations monitor the quality of their internal control systems. Studies in Accounting Research CALL FOR PROPOSALS
At the 2007 Annual Meeting the Executive Committee approved the reinstatement of the monograph series Studies in Accounting Research (SAR). The AAA issued 33 SARs from 1969 through 2000. SAR is a prestigious series that provides an outlet for seminal and innovative research not bounded by the usual space and topic constraints present in our journals. SAR is of significant benefit to authors in exploring a topic in great depth and as a resource for other researchers.
Future Accounting Faculty and Programs PROJECTS AND RESOURCES
The AAA is developing new resources for the community participating in and supporting accounting programs, students, faculty, and by that connection practitioners of accounting. This ongoing effort will support the broad community committed to a vital future for accounting education.
Global Accounting Digital Archive Network A PROJECT OF AAA AND EAA
The Global Accounting Digital Archive Network combines many sources of freely available digital information and archives related to accounting in various parts of the world. Initiated as a joint project of the American Accounting Association and the European Accounting Association, in collaboration with organizations and academics from many parts of the world, this on-going effort aims to assemble links to useful accounting archives.

AAA Resource Page NASBA'S UAA REVISION PROPOSALS
In 2005, the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) issued an exposure draft of proposed changes to the Uniform Accountancy Act, Rules 5-1 and 5-2. In response to this exposure draft the AAA convened a task force to examine the proposed changes and to prepare a response.
